Hello

I'm Glyn, a qualified counsellor from Australia, and I'm here to support you on your journey towards healing and growth. At Feel Heal Grow, I offer counselling services for individuals facing a wide range of challenges, from everyday stressors to more complex issues like anxiety, past trauma, or difficulties with life changes and transitions.

While my practice embraces clients from all walks of life, I have specialised training in working with trauma and anxiety. Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as person-centred therapy (PCT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), I provide tailored support to help you navigate your unique experiences and find effective strategies for moving forward.

Since Feel Heal Grow is an online-based clinic, I have the privilege of not only working with clients from across Australia, but also from various parts of the world. My clinic hours are designed to accommodate multiple time zones, ensuring flexibility and accessibility for all.

If you've been contemplating reaching out for support, I'd be honoured to be part of your journey. Together, we can work towards understanding your experiences, building resilience, and fostering personal growth. Your well-being is important, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.

My Story

After 10 years of working as a primary school teacher in Australia, England, and Thailand, I experienced burnout and decided it was time for a change.

Originally, I had become a teacher because I enjoyed helping people learn and grow, and realised I could continue doing both of these things as a counsellor. So I decided to retrain as a counsellor by completed a masters of counselling and a selection of specific qualifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

As my knowledge of different ways to help people grew, so too did my passion and desire to put what I had learned to good use. But I was unsure exactly what form this desire would take until I discovered Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). After learning more about ACT and taking various courses to develop my competence in delivering counselling sessions using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I knew I had found something that deeply aligned with my core values and philosophy about the therapeutic process.

Armed with knowledge and passion about providing a quality supportive service, I thought long and hard about the best way to provide it to the largest range of people possible. I understood all too well from living abroad, that when I wished to seek mental health assistance my options were often limited due to language barriers and  location. With this in mind, I began to wonder how many people were unable to receive the support they would like due to their own locational restrictions or time constraints. It was through this train of thought that I decided to create Feel Heal Grow so I could offer online sessions and work with all the people who may currently be missing out on the opportunity to see a counsellor, but would like to see one.

My Philosophy

My philosophy is rooted in the transformative power of embracing emotions as a crucial step towards healing and growth. Through the practice of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I came to understand that before people can effectively address and overcome anxiety, past traumas or challenging experiences, they must first allow themselves to truly feel the difficult emotions associated with those moments.

In line with the principles of ACT, avoiding or not accepting the existence of these emotions can hinder the healing process. By confronting and accepting their existence, we pave the way for genuine healing. It's the initial step in a journey where people can then learn valuable skills and commit to actions that support their healing process.

In short, in order to grow, you must first feel and heal.

My Methods

In order to avoid a one-size-fits-all approach and ensure your counselling or coaching sessions are relevant to you, I apply a combination of techniques drawn from positive psychology and various counselling modalities and theories alongside Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Think of it this way. While bandages are an effective way for doctors to treat a patient with a cut or wound, they would not be used to treat a patient who is presenting with a cough and fever. Like bandages, no single counselling modality best addresses every type of problem.

No matter why you've come to Feel Heal Grow, you can rest assured that you will be receiving the most appropriate and effective treatment during your sessions.

However, if you would like to learn more about the specific modalities and techniques I will draw from, I would encourage you to book a free 30 minute discovery call or check out my blog.
